Personality:
Claire is one of the few people in the world that is a genuinely sweet, caring person. She may not be the brightest bulb in the box, and she may not be the best at magic, but she she is so happy that it does not seem to bother her a bit. Claire has a permanently rose-tinted view of the world, with an optimism that is both infectious and exhausting to those around her. She makes friends easily, and is honest and loyal. She often puts what others want in front of what she wants, although sometimes, it leads to her giving up on what she needs to easily. She is a bit of a pushover.
Claire is absent-minded, with her head always in the clouds. She is a rather insightful person, but you have to grab her attention. She is easily distracted. She has trouble making decisions quickly, trying hard to see the benefits in both, and just confusing herself. She is incredibly random, but her random wonderings often lead to brilliant plans, as long as you listen to her. Some people pass her off as a bit of an airhead, or a spaz, but it rarely registers with her. She is naive and unassuming. People like to take advantage of her.
History:
Claire was raised in the muggle world, so she had no knowledge of the world of wizards, witches, and magic. As a kid, she was picked on at school. She was one of those people who seemed easy to make fun of, and she endured many years of torture, remaining virtually unscathed. She was oblivious, which made her an even easier target. Her parents knew what was going on, but did not know how to stop it. They were very overprotective of their daughter, but even trips to talk to the principal did not seem to do much good.
When she got her Hogwarts letter, she was absolutely stunned, though it was probably the happiest day of her life. The idea that she was special, and that she had magic made her ecstatic, although her parents were not comfortable with the idea. They did not want their daughter going off to some boarding school for "magic" in the middle of nowhere, no matter how much it mattered to Claire. They thought they were protecting her, but on seeing how excited the concept made her, and upon meeting Hagrid, who came to help her pick up her supplies in Diagon Alley, their fears were somewhat assuaged.
At Hogwarts, Claire has made a lot more friends. She is still considered an easy target, especially by the Slytherins, but she glides through life in the same happy, optimistic way that she did in grade school, and she has many more friends for it. Her brother joined her at Hogwarts this year, to her delight.
